This house is an important one in a chart. The good fortune of the individual manifests itself in different ways. When it influences the second house it gives wealth to the individual; when it influences the tenth house it gives high position to him. Many yogas (combinations) have been given by classics. We will state some of them.

Satya Jatakam has given the effects of placement of the owner of the ninth house in different houses. It states that when the owner of the ninth house occupies the ascendant the individual earns property through his own efforts. When the owner of the ninth house is placed in the second house with shubha yoga the individual will acquire wealth through his father. He will be rich. We have already explained the concept of shubha yoga but we will reiterate it for convenience. Satyacharya of Satya Jatakam says that a planet will have shubha yoga when it occupies the sign, navamsha or constellation of a naturally beneficial planet; it is flanked by naturally beneficial planets; or, it has the aspect of a naturally beneficial planet.

The owner of the ninth house in the third house with shubha yoga will make the father of the individual moderately rich. The owner of the ninth house in the fourth with shubha yoga will help the individual earn well from his land. His mother will also be rich.

The father of the individual will be an eminent person when the owner of the ninth house is in the fifth house. The owner of the ninth house in the sixth will disturb the health of the father of the individual. If there is ashubha yoga, enemies will take away the wealth of the father.

If the owner of the ninth house occupies the seventh the father of the individual will go abroad. If there is ashubha yoga, the father may be poor and he may die abroad.

When the owner of the ninth house is placed in the eighth house the father of the individual will die when the individual was young. He will not get wealth from his father. If there is shubha yoga the individual will be moderately wealthy.

The affairs of the ninth house will prosper well when the owner of the ninth house is in the ninth with shubha yoga.

The owner of the ninth house in the tenth with shubha yoga will make the individual wealthy and charitable. He will be well known and highly placed.

The individual will have much wealth when the owner of the ninth house is in the eleventh house with shubha yoga.

The owner of the ninth house with shubha yoga in the twelfth will not be good. The individual will lose his wealth and will be poor.

Jatakalankar states that the owner of the ninth house in ascendant under aspect of Jupiter will bring honour to the individual from the government.

The owner of the ninth house in the eleventh will give longevity to the individual. He will be honoured by the government.

Mahadev in Jatakatatva states that the individual will be lucky when naturally beneficial planets project aspect to the ninth house.

The individual will commit sins when a naturally malefic planet is in the ninth house or the owner of the eighth house is in the ninth.

The individual will not be fortunate when the owner of the ninth house is weak and a naturally malefic planet occupies the house.

The individual will be fortunate through his children when the owners of the fifth and ninth houses are together, and they are associated with or under aspect of a naturally beneficial planet. The individual will be fortunate when the owner of the ninth house occupies the second. Sarvarth Chintamani says that the father of the individual will be long lived and the individual will benefit from him when owner
of the ninth house is associated with or has aspect  of Jupiter or Venus.

The individual will live under the control of his father when the owner of the ninth house is much stronger than the owner of the ascendant and the Sun has aspect of naturally beneficial planets.

An individual having the sign in his ascendant which is in the sixth house of his father will be inimical to him. When the ascendant of the individual is placed in the second, ninth or eleventh house of the father he will be obedient to him. The individual will depend on his father financially if the ascendants of the father and the individual are in the same sign.

The individual will not be fortunate when the owner of the ninth house is in the sixth under aspect of an inimical or debilitated planet.

Brihat Parashar Hora Shastra says that there will be strained relations between the individual and his father if the owner of the ascendant is associated with the owner of the sixth in the ninth house.

The father of the individual dies within one year of his birth if the Sun occupies the eighth house and the owner of the eighth occupies the ninth house.

The individual will be praised by the government if the owner of the ninth house occupies the ascendant under aspect of Jupiter.
